Agadir Agadir or Gran Canaria?
Posted: Mon January 8, 2007 02:50 PM UTC
My mom (56) and me (24) are looking in to a holiday in Agadir in March 2007 but are very unsure, we love the sun and looking for a relaxing beach holiday. We look for a good beach, good pool and hotel, good eating places and somewhere we won't feel unsafe as we are 2 females on their own.
We have been to Egypt (sharm el sheikh)before so understand what the culture may be like and do plan to go with an open mind.
I would really like to go somewhere different but I'm really not sure to risk going to Agadir as I have seen very mixed reviews about the area and hotels.

Should I go to the Canary Islands as a safe option instead??

Any advise please

Thanks,
Cat

Hello.
I am from Agadir, and I won't let that be a reason to praise my city :).
Agadir beaches are always full with tourists, females or not, I don't see that they lack any freedom. As for the safety, if you avoid going out unfrequented places at late hours of the night, then everything will be alright. Just like anywhere else, you just need to adopt the same attitude.
Worthless to mention that the weather in March will be just as you want it to, for a beach vacation :)

Can't tell you about the Canary islands. Compare and decide :).

i'm from denmark and has been to both places.

i would say tha agadir has less hassles for females compared to egypt.
i rerally likes that place when i was there on a family trip with people aged from 3 to 70 years old.

gran canaria is very nice too, but alos a bit more expensive.

Given what you want to get out of your holiday, it's a no-brainer. Go to the Canary Islands.

Morocco is a wonderful country to visit but the beaches and beach resorts are mediocre at best, by international standards.
