Beijing Beijing Olympics: National Stadium and Aquatics Centre
Posted: Mon January 8, 2007 02:11 AM UTC
I plan to be in Beijing about March 1, 2007. I wish to visit the National Stadium and the Aquatics Centre to be used in the 2008 Olympics. I know that they are within walking distance of each other in the northern part of Beijing, on the south end of what the map calls 'Olympic Green'. On the map, it looks like they could be reached from the airport, but perhaps the road is incomplete.
Am I correct?

If I start from downtown, what subway station is closest to this site? What is the approximate cost of a taxi from the subway to these two sites?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi,
The Olympics site is around 20 mins taxi ride from airport. It is not as close as it appears on the map. Currently the new subway line is not yet in operation, at least not March 2007. :) However, you can take a subway to Ang Ding Men subway station. From there take a bus or taxi, would be the nearest stop. If you take a taxi, should costs you less than 20 yuans to get to the station. If it is a bus ride, and you do not mind walking, I know that you can take bus number 803, 430, 358, and so on, to Bei Cheng Shopping mall (it is pass the north fourth ring). From there walk west pass bei Cheng. Once you are behind Bei Cheng shopping mall, you will see the Stadium. :)

Cheers!

Not sure if you've arranged your travels. My 3 teenagers & myself traveled to Beijing in December. We had a private guide/driver who was absolutely the best. I guarantee your satisfaction. You will never find anyone as wonderful as Alvin. If you contact him, please tell him Maryjane, Nolan, Lindsay & Jessica are anxious for his visit to U.S.
