hi all,
Im a 20 year old guy going to the states on a working visa for the summer and was wondering where i should go. im definitely going to the west coast, somewhere between long beach and laguna beach. where would be the cheapest for accommadation and how easy would it be to find a job? and of course il be looking to socialise a lot, whats the night life like?

huntington beach is not a bad choice.
be aware though that the backpacker hostel in town closed down recently.

Huntington Beach is a very fun place for someone your age. My daughter lives there and she's in her 20's. On Main Street, directly across from the pier there are lots of restaurants where you can sit outside, upstairs and downstairs, lots of shops, surf shops and music. People hang out all day and night there. June2-3 is the Pro Am Surf Competition, June 8-10 is the Surfrider Celebrity Surf Jam, the Orange County Fair with rides, games, etc. and not too far from Huntington Beach begins July 13th, on July 21st, the Beach Games U.S.Open Surf Competition begins; there is motorcross, skateboarding, volleyball on the beach, music, 70 vendors, etc. etc. Lots to do.
