| Cuzco | Quito - Cuzco Posted: Sun January 7, 2007 07:40 AM UTC
Hi
Am doing volunteer work in Ecuador June/July/August this year, and plan to go down to walk the Inca Trail afterwards. Are there any dates to avoid the Trail in August? Has anyone caught the bus from Quito-Cuzco? Any ideas of best airline to go from USA-Quito (then possibly Cuzco) and back to States? |

Hello,
Well the best you can do ,it's take a plane from Quito to Lima, then take other plane from Lim to Cuzco. The plane from Lima to Cuzco cost US$ 138 average, and the inka trail cost US$ 270 average (4d/3n). august is not high season, so you can get great deals for all the tour you want to take. Let me know if you need more help, I work as a independent travel agent and I was in Cuzco last august so I can recommend you hotels, flights, everything you want. Grettings from Kathia,

Hi Kathia
Thanks. I currently have a travel agent here looking into my flights, as it is really hard online, when you are sitting here in New Zealand with so many options. I am going to be in Alaska before Ecuador, so will fly down to Quito, and am considering doing the bus from Quito to Lima on Ormeno or Cruz del Sar, so I can have a little look at the countryside. And then flying from Lima to Cuzco, and then after walking the Inca Trail, flying onto Europe. The travel agent here deals with American Airlines, who seem to be cheaper than LAN from what I can see. Or do you recommend someone else? Do you recommend Ormeno or Cruz del Sar for buses ~I am thinking I shall book in Quito when I get there. I will get to Quito in June this year, but not go down to walk the Inca trail until mid-August. I think there will be spaces still? Have you heard of http://www.infocusco.com.pe/ for walking the Inca trail? They are US$300.00 ~ do you think this is too expensive. A lot of the ones mentioned in Lonely Planet are more like US $350.00. Thanks for your help Kathia.

Hi,
I recommend you "Cruz del Sur", they have better buses, new ones with GPS (Global Positioning System). this is the web page :http://www.cruzdelsur.com.pe/inicio.php The inka trail tour (4d/3n) cost since $ 270 , it depends on the number of days and the travel company. I think US$ 300 ,it's ok ! And I have my friend from New Zealand ,too. He came to Peru by Lan airlines, he came first to Chile, he stayed in Chile for 2 days ,and then he came to Lima by Lan airlines, here in Lima I sold the inka trail to him for US$ 270 and the flights Lima -Cuzco - Lima for US$ 138 : TOUR INCLUSIONS : - Transportation to head of trail (82 Km.) - Entrance ticket to Inka Trail and Machu Picchu - Bus ticket down to Aguas Calientes City - Train ticket back to Cusco, BACKPACKER ticket. - Cook and cooking equipment. - Guided visit to Machu Picchu and the ruins along the trail. - English/Spanish speaker professional guide during all Inca Trail - Meals ( 3 breakefast, 3 lunch, 3 dinner) - Personal camping equipment such as tents, pad - Porters service (to carry the tents and cooking equipment only) Maybe the tour you found it is included the acommodation and the flight from lima to cusco. And he told me he paid for his flight from New Zealand to Chile: Total Price NZD 1621.11. Grettings from Kathia, You will enjoy Cusco, you will see!!!
