I am 25 years old and heading to Christchurch next month i was wondering whether it was a safe city at night and what the nightclubs are like.

Also wanted to know whether christchurch is a gay friendly area?

Yeah christchurch new zealand :-)

Christchurch city is not that big, and by day it is quite quiet, more like a country town because a lot of the locals just go to the suburban malls.

It does have a busy club/night life Thursday-Saturday, primarily around quite a small area in the city ~ not sure about the gay scene though sorry.

Safety wise it is probably as good as it gets in the world these days. Not too much happens in the Central City, but there are the occasional violent assaults just on the outskirts. But they are fairly isolated. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security though (a lot of tourists do that here) and still take all the usual recautions.

Probably one thing to watch out for is drinks being spiked, ie never leave your drink alone!

Don't know if your atill enjoying Christchurch -- and, yes, it has a safe and friendly social gay scene.
