Distrito Federal Much needed advice!
Posted: Fri January 5, 2007 10:16 PM UTC
I posted this as a reply on another post, but I thought I'd open it up...because I need all the advice I can get!
I have two options of apartments. One, is in Barrio Norte with an Argentinean girl who works and goes to school, then other is in Palermo Soho with an American girl (like me) who I don't know, but met briefly through mutual friends.
I'm not going to school (just graduated college). I already speak Spanish fluently, and will be doing a internship in a political office.
I honestly feel more comfortable living with the American girl, just because I know we have the same interests, but at the same time, I don't want to miss out on the natives. Do you think I'll be able to meet enough natives through working? I can't decide! Any advice?

without a doubt i would recommend palermo soho for a place to live. this area within easy walking distance to palermo hollywood and a short taxi to las canitas and is just a terrific area to interact with locals as well as foreigners. the area is filled with terrific cafes and resto-bars located on quiet tree lined streets ( stay away from the main avenues unless you enjoy the sound of busses ). took me 2 weeks to find an apartment i liked and i have stayed in retiro, recoleta, congreso, and centro previosly. this is the place to stay imo if you want to enjoy all that b.a. has to offer from a comfortable and cool locale. i would recommend it for people of any age and interests.
