We were told that most medicines we would need are available over the counter instead of by prescription from a doctor. What are the medicines that you cannot buy over the counter and need a doctor to write you a prescription?

In theory, you need a prescription for medicines like antibiotics or injectable stuff ,including a number of common medicines that somehow made their way on the black list (for instance you need a prescription to buy injectable vitamin C)...in practice you can get any medicine (except for very strong sedatives, hypnotic drugs and steroids) without prescription, but you may need to ask in several locations.
