If we bring our video tapes with us should we bring our VCR/DVD player as well. Or will we be able to buy one that will play our tapes. I am not sure if the VCR's are the same in Europe as in the US. I think we will need to by an adapter for the outlet though.. right? Would we buy those here or in Brasov?

Your video tapes an dvd will not play in European players,USA is region 1 Europe is region 5,USA uses NTSC an EUROPE uses PAL video format.The different is the amount of video frames per second.Outlet adapters can be purchased in most electronic stores,or on many websites.If you bring your DVD player with you ,you will need a power converter because European electric is 220 -240 an USA is100-120.If you have a portable DVD player check the outlet cord,if there is a small square block in the line read the back an look to see if it says 100V-240V
if it does you do not need a power converter to use it,just and outlet adapter.
