Shanghai Markets Shopping in Shanghai
Posted: Fri January 5, 2007 12:18 AM UTC
Hi, I understand that Xiang Yang markets have closed and some vendors have moved to the science museum.
I am looking for markets comparible to the Hong Giao market or Silk market in Beijing, is there anything like this in Shanghai or is the new Xiang Yang my best bet? I have a few days in Shanghai before I shift to Taizhou so would like to find as many good markets as I can because I dont think Taizhou will have the same range of goods.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

List of fake markets in Shanghai:
1) Science & Technology Museum metro stop (line 2) in Pudong
2) 580 Nanjing Xilu, near Chengdu Beilu
3) Qipu Lu
4) Huarong Lu x Longhua Lu
5) Huaihai Donglu x Xizang Nanlu

Xiang Yang has clothes, copy bags and the usual kind of copy watches and stuff. There are small shops around Dong Tai road that have real and fake antiques. Sometimes you can find cool things there. I understand there is another antique market near the old Hong Qiao airport, but I have never been there.

Also, Yuyan Garden area, inside and outside, there are many good small shops. Look for the knife shop to buy a real Chinese cleaver. You can also get good prices on 24 k gold and P 90 jewelry
