Bacolod City Travel Forum

Im from Cebu but was able to work on some development projects in Region 6 way back mid 80's with Bacolod City as our base. Our office was in Lacson-Galo area and our staff house was in Eroreco Subd. I spent a good 5 years in Negros-Iloilo-Aklan region.I migrated to Canada now, and visits Philippines at least once a year. But since my vacation time is so short i could only be in Cebu my hometown or Bohol,for the beaches. I have been wishfully thinking of visiting Bacolod,Iloilo and Aklan again. Sort of a reminiscing those memorable times from way back. My last time in Bacolod City was in 1990,and my question is, is there a big change from the old Bacolod City that i knew circa 1980's?

big dramatic changes in Bacolod my friend. unfortunately, the changes are towards urbanization which i really dont like. you could probably say that its turning into another cebu. :) a little traffic, a little pollution....3 malls now....i miss the bacolod that was quiet, rustic, slow-paced and realxed.

Highly urbanized Bacolod City is not what it was way back 1980's when i was there. I remember Manokan,Palapala,Goldenfields,Plaza,Bobs,and there was a favorite hang out Blue Bar music lounge before near Coca Cola? I had lots of friends from Coca Cola basketball team that time,mostly salesmen.Our office was near PLDT in Lacson Galo, i remember there was a very good seafoods place in that area (i love seafoods).But Manokan is very good too, esp, the oysters, and the beer.
