Beijing Nightlife in Beijing

I'm visiting Beijing in March and from what I have read it seems the HouHai lake area offers the most attractive atmospheric nightlife. Somewhere I read there is a lot of 'Western rave techno music' around HouHai lake, is this true? I actually quite like techno and wondered if anyone could suggest anywhere good? Do bars stay open late?

Beijing RE: Raving about techno nightlife in Houhai

Yes, it's true and Hou Hai bars do stay open late. Try Houhai Zoo by the arched bridge.
For techno music you might want to head over to Banana Club at 22 Jianguomen Wai Street inside the SciTech hotel. IBIZA Spirit Club is another fun place to go and meet Chinese techno music enthusiasts. It's at 22 East Hepingli Street in Dongcheng district.

Beijing Bar hopping tours in Beijing?

Yes, a nightlife tour guide is very helpful when hopping around the bars in the Hou Hai area. They know where the cheapest drinks can be found and can tell handicapped beggars to scram in both Mandarin and English.

Thanks for the help confucius, will be sure to try out your suggestions. Where would one find such a nightlife guide? Sounded like you were plugging yourself as a guide, still wither way i appreciate the comments. Thanks!

In my second reply I was ridiculing a tout whose VT account was deleted, that's why you don't see his post any more.
You can get more updated information on Beijing nightlife by checking one of the two English magazines mentioned in my Beijing page general tips:
That's Beijing and City Weekend. The magazines are free and available at finer hotels throughout the capital.
