| Manchester | 2nd Hand Cameras to buy - Reparing a came Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 11:19 AM UTC
Dear VT,
I am coming to manchester in a few days and was wondring if there are any shops that sell 2nd hand digital cameras with both good price & good quality. also, I have this Kodak camera, that I really regret having it broken in someway, its lens does not extend when camera turns on, do I have any chance to find someone to repair it for me? I heard that it might cost me a lot, some adviced me to get a new one insted of repairing the old one. what do you suggest? Yours help would be very much appreciated, Thank you in advance, |

I am aware of 2 camera shops in Manchester City Centre (not sure about out at the Trafford Centre). One is on Deansgate, the other in Piccadilly Gardens alongside the bus station. I think the one in Piccadilly Gardens might do 2nd hand cameras. The one on Deansgate is a Jessops. You could try either for repairs. Sorry I can't be more informative.

Thank you for your kind help,
Just a quickie, cameras now are on sales, right? I think a new one with discount would be better than a 2nd hand, what do you think? Thanks

I haven't seen what the sales prices are like in the shops for cameras. I'v eonly mentioned the specialist shops. There's a Currys Digital in the Arndale Centre and then a couple of department stores as well. You might be lucky to pick up a good bargain at the Currys shop (Upper Level in the Arndale). I would check that out first and then visit the two specialist shops mentioned. Where abouts in Manchester are you actually staying?

Get a new one - they have sales going on all over downtown Manchester. If you want a second hand camera, ask in a Jessops or any other camera store you duck into. There's plenty of these stores so it should be pretty easy.

Jessops is probably your best bet as a starting point; the people there generally known what they are talking about, and their prices are pretty competitive. The Branch in Deansgate is the biggest one I know, but they do have a smaller shop in the Trafford centre.
Currys, PCworld, comet all sell digital cameras (Check their websites) and are fine if you know what you are looking for, or are a just a 'point and shoot' photographer, but you sound more than that, so head for Jessops! You might try buying a specialist photography magazine and looking in the small adds for other places near Manchester? Enjoy
