| Manchester | What are the best travel sites for Manchester? and a surprise question Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 08:02 AM UTC
I want to find cheap ways to bop around the UK and Europe while I'm in Manchester. In other words, what sites offer the best, cheapest, and widest variety of flights or trips out of Manchester?
For example, RyanAir offers those supah cheap pound (plus tax) flights - but only to Shannon and Dublin. What are some others? surprise question: (to locals only please) What, after all these years, do you still find lovely and worth a visit any time of the year? Thanks to all in advance... JamJam |

www.megabus.com will help you getting around the UK.
Also www.nationalexpress.co.uk - which has some good prices into Europe. Cheap flights from Manchester Airport include www.flybe.com, www.jet2.com, www.flymonarch.com. In answer to your question - Manchester Airport, for my next trip!!!! ;-)

skyscanner.com is very good to play with if you are looking for cheap flights within Europe.

www.whichbudget.com lists budget carriers out of UK airports; worth considering Doncaster/Liverpool/Bham airports too. Use National Express (or perhaps Megabus)to get to/from airports; takes longer, but cheaper than the train.
Lovely and worth a visit anytime? The wilder countryside (Lakes, Dales, N York Moors, Snowdonia etc etc), the softer countryside (Cotswolds, Devon etc) and the history; York, Chester, great houses like Chatsworth, castles........... You could fly to Shannon and explore the West coast of Ireland by bus, perhaps?

I owuld just second the places leics has already mentioned and add the Peak District. The British countrysude - even after 49 years - still surprises me with its loveliness.

I don't know if it's still needed but RyanAir fly from Liverpool to Stockholm. Then you can see a bit of Sweden. I will go with my company to Manchester in May. Looking forward to it!
