Sun City is a resort and not a city like Johannesburg and is very safe.

Don't take travelers' cheques. There are lots of ATMs so you can the cash you need in small amounts. I was in South Africa for 5 weeks and just used a credit card and my cash card. I wouldn't withdraw a lot of money at once.

When we go to SA we take some cash on us (split btwn my husband and I). We do an internet transfer of money to South Africa from the UK prior to our trip, so it's there to withdraw/pay with.

We have UK and SA bank accounts, which makes it simpler for us. If you only have a UK account, it's no problem to use your bank/credit card in the majority of places.
