| Tampa | Yankees Spring Training in Tampa Posted: Mon January 1, 2007 02:27 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to see some Yankees spring training games in March...I've never been to a spring training game before (never been to Tampa, either), so I was wondering if anybody here could give me advice on:
1. A hotel convenient for Legends Field (I was thinking of AmeriSuites Tampa Westshore) 2. Good restaurants near the field (I've researched two places named Crabby Bill's and Carrabba's Italian Grille) 3. Ticket-buying advice (They officially go on sale on January 5th, but if it's anything like buying regular season tix, my chances of getting good seats that way are small. Has anybody bought spring training tix on ebay or stubhub.com?) Thanks for any help...happy new year, everyone! Tara |

Hello. It's been many Years since We went to Spring trainng games but I think there should be no worry on getting a ticket to a game. Just buy at the gate. Im sorry I can't help on the other questions. Back in the early 80's We went to see the Yankees in Ft Lauderdale. We went all around Florida to see different teams play also. George Strienbrener(pardon spelling) sat about 5 rows behind Us at a game and I had never heard of Him. My Cousin was the baseball lover and I was in Florida to see the 3rd Shuttle launch. Times have changed since then and I would love to go see some Spring trainning games. Happy New Year.

I would not stress out about the tickets. You will be able to but tickets when they go on sale.
The spring training stadiums are small and the worst seats are not far from the field. Not like the huge major league stadiums at all. Carrabba's are usually pretty good for a chain.

There is a Carrabba's not too far away, south of Legend's Field, but north of I-275 on Dale Mabry Hwy. The Crabby Bill's is on Courtney Campbell Causeway which is not near the Field but not too far either. There are several restaurants in the Westshore area, try the Bay Street complex of restaurants at International Plaza, a shopping mall between the airport and the Field. If you want, check out my VT Tampa page, I have several restaurant tips.
