Hi Vt'ers:

I am planning a trip to Bogota and Cartegena. Can someone advise how much should the airfare be for a roundtrip between Bogota and Cartegena? What airlines besides Avianca would serve these cities, and what are reliable websites or travel agents I can go to in Bogota to book?

If I book from Canada, they seem very $$ - about $400USD!

Well, in Colombia you have 2 or 3 national airlines that make national flights only, last time I was there I flight from Bogota to Santa Marta (Wich is far away from Cartajena) and i did not pay more than 100 dollars (round trip). vianca for national flight is waaaay mooore expensive than the other 2 airlines.
Unfurtunadly I do not have the full data on those airlines but if you take a look on the web you will ind them.

Have you thought about buses? If you have the time it is much cheaper. I did this and split the journey with a night in Villa de Lleyva (lovely place although I think I spelt it wrong!)

Another suggestion, is check fares to Barranquilla (BAQ). It is very close to Cartagena, and I believe should be cheaper.

Lonely Planet is pretty out of date about the flights too, it states in the most recent edition that flight costs are around $80 to Bogota. Most flights I`ve found have been close to double that.
