Brestskaya Voblasts' train question for getting to Baranavochi
Posted: Tue December 26, 2006 03:53 AM UTC
I'm flying to Warsaw in a couple of weeks. I'm trying to get from Warsaw to Baranovichi by way of train. I would have flown into Minsk but it was much more expensive and the departure flights were rare and fare between. I'm trying to get to Baranovichi to visit some friends. Can anyone tell me anything about the train that travels to Baranovichi from Warsaw, like departure regulairity (daily?), approaximate cost? Is it just one train I need to take or are there several ones to get me there? I found a Polish site that had some of the information but unfortunately I do not read or understand Polish. Can anyone help me out with these question and if so, maybe more? I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks-byron

My name is Sergej and I live in Baranovichi...:)
Well, I will try to help you. You know, Baranovichi is a rather big and important railway junction in Belarus and all trains from Poland come through it. It means, if you decide to go by train from Warszaw, you wouldn't need to change the train. As far as I remember, the train from Warszaw central to Minsk goes regulary in the evening and stopes in Baranovichi early in the morning next day (5 o'clock). How much does the ticket cost I don't remember, but it is not very expensive. In the railway station you can take the taxi, wich will cost 6000 brb (appr. 2,5 Eur). If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact me. If you wish, we can even meet in Baranovichi...:)
Take care and have a good trip!

I have a similiar question though I'm going in the opposite direction. I plan to fly to Warsaw from London and travel by train to northern Belarus via Minsk to work on a environmental project. Ideally, I would like to buy a train ticket online, if you find a site let me know.

I might visit Baranavochi at the end of the trip. Its where my grandmother was born in 1907, depends if I have time.
