Córdoba Please help! How to get to Medina Azahara?
Posted: Sat July 26, 2003 08:52 AM UTC
My bro and I are going to Spain for the first time in Sept, and while in Cordoba we'd like to go to Medina Azahara. Is there any way to get there by public transport? (Renting a car is not an option for us - we're both under 25.). Any ideas of how to get there (on a budget)? Any info anyone could share would be greatly appreciated. MAny thanks,

Mike

I intend to go there myself when I'm there in October. I'll either take a bus or, according to RoughGuides, take the special car tour that is available. Then there is the option of hiring a taxi. What I actually will do I'll know when I'm there. Have a great time.

There is a bus from the city that will take you to the end of the road, then you walk the 2 km the rest of the way. (slight incline, no shade, bring water)last summer they had a special exhibition there and had transportation direct to the site but don't know if that is available this year. Try checking with the tourist office when you arrive. It is worth the effort. There is nothing there except for the ruins, so don't expect to eat there (small vender with snacks is all). You could pack a picnic lunch though.
