first time there

I'll be in salzburg in late jule or august of next year & as geeky as this sounds I wanna go see the fountain that the kids sing around in thesound of music. what are the names of the places that are the movie? will i also be able to find aldevise(sp???) the flower. I really love that movie it's one of my faves.
also any cheap/clean hostels?

Have a look on my Salzburg-page and you will recognize the fountain in Mirabell-castle and some other pics as a part of the movie.
In the travelogue I have a few infos about the Sound of music tour.

Regarding Edelweiss :
It is very hard to find it , as it grows high up in the mountains.
And it is absolutely FORBIDDEN to pick one of these and take them home.
But in the souvenir-shops they have seeds of a similar, cultivated flower, and they also have dried artificial ones as souvenirs...

Hi! I went on a sound of music trip when my parents came to visit. As everyone said it has a very American viewpoint and most Austrians I know have never heard of the film, this apart , the tour we went on was a great way to see some of the beautiful lakeside areas around Salzburg and have go on a summer rodelbahn down a hill was quite fun as well as get away with singing songs from the movie on the bus. My parents had a great time and I got to take loads of photos (sadly not digital, I have lots of Salzburg pictures on my travelpage and scanned a couple of the sound of music areas).
Regarding the youth hostel I stayed in a guesthouse but there is one that sounds quite good not far from the station see: www.yoho.at
