| Poipu | Kauai Weather in early December. Posted: Fri July 25, 2003 03:31 PM UTC
I am planning on visiting Kauai in December, and I have read that the North Shore (Princeville) receives more rain than the South Shore (Poi'pu). My question is does more rain in December mean lots of overcast skies and constant rain throughout the day?
I'm really the "bright sunshine" guy who loves lush greenery (not just beaches) but want to make sure that I don't get stuck/caught in rainy days (complete washouts!) in Princeville. Thanks, George |

You can't really count on anything in December. I've been when it's rained for three or four days solid or it's rainy in Poipu and sunny in Kapaa... or the reverse. Plan for atleast a bit of rain and rent a car, if possible, so that you can get to other areas of the island where it might be sunny and warm.
Cheers, Marisa (and Dino)

Yes, it rains a lot more on the northshore than the southside.
In Dec. I would recommend the southside, and in the summer, the north. Still no guarranty it wont rain in Poipu in Dec.
