I am planing a trip to Colima in January and was wondering what is the best way to experience the volcano? Are there guided tours up the volcano? how close can you get? what would you recomend we do if we have two days to spend in/near Colima.

thank you
Mike.

I DON'T THINK YOU GO NEAR THE VOLCANO AS IT'S TOO DANGEROUS FOR IT BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT YOU CAN CLIMB THE EXTINCT NEARBY NEVADO DE COLIMA FOR A GOOD VIEW OF IT.

I visited Colima last summer and I was surprised to find it was a lovely city, so it is worth yopu spend the day visitng it.
I couldn't see the volcano because the time I was there it was very foggy, but I am certain there are viewpoints, you should ask in some post of touristic information.

The city of Manzanillo is very close (it will take you no more than one hour to get there by car) so it may be a good idea to travel day, spend the day at the beach and return to Colima in the afternoon.
