Hakone Kamaboko tourist in Odawara
Posted: Mon December 18, 2006 02:31 PM UTC
I'm actually going to Odawara the 30.th of December to buy kamaboko. Is there a nice place to stay in Odawara or should I go to Hakone? Is there a place to eat kamaboko as well? Is the fishing port active?

Ummmmmm, you can buy good Kamaboko just about anywhere in Japan.
Unless of course, you are looking for a particular brand, type, etc.

What does make you so interested in Kamaboko??? :D
It usually plays a side role, and never a main character in dishes.
I'm sure Kamaboko appreciate your great interest and attention!! :))

You are probably right, but I think the Odawara type belonges to the popular ones with a history. I wanted to focus on that in my writing, and I wanted to visit the museum. But it seems a little difficult right now.

Well... first I think that food as a subject is interesting: food culture, history etc. A lot of people do that now. But no one pays very much attention to phenomenons like kamaboko, surimi, crabsticks - even though its a part of many peoples live. I have decided that I will be the one to pay that attention. This includes the globalisation and the relation between Odawara kamaboko and crabsticks in Seattle.
