Heated guesthouses in Lijiang Posted: Fri December 15, 2006 08:05 PM UTC
I am visiting Lijiang from New Zealand, with my son who's been teaching English in Chengdu, in late January - can anyone give us the names of HEATED guesthouses or inexpensive hotels in the Old Town? Preferably with western style toilets.

Thanks Ellyse for your suggestion of Old Xie's IYH. Have tries a google search for that name, but with no luck - could you please give me some more detail: do they have twin rooms with own western style bathrooms? Heated? and what kind of price do they charge? And the address?
Thanks

If you're able to read Chinese, you might like to take a look at http://www.lijiang.org as that's their own website.
Yes, they do have twin rooms with ensuite, Western-style toilet. These are on the 2nd floor, free in-room ADSL Internet access (bring your own computer, or rent one from them for 20 RMB/day), air-conditioning, carpet, TV and disposable toiletries.
Their address is Xinyi Jie, Jishan Xiang (Jishan Alley), no.25.
Email/MSN is laoshie@hotmail.com and the owner does speak reasonable English. :) If you get lost and ring them at 86-888-5116118 they'll even come and fetch you!
You might also like to print out the map at http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/x1pPHu2K6HCG6o4wYu2H4ScqvAzwojvKbrf9wL13DjhlOF9xygBKopl_9nytDEwSzu40K6WTKL7QWXcykaLXB5XTNSraEIGkABqr-eZfCiYmMN9SAyEi9Vabg in case you get lost and need directions from someone.

Ack, forgot to post that the price for those rooms seems to be 180 RMB, check with the posted prices at the reception when you arrive. They don't bargain.
