How safe (or unsafe) is this route (starting at around 11 pm)?

Any particular bus company to choose, considering right speed and safety?

I would say very safe.. I went there by chartered bus 2 years ago. But do check out the yellow pages or go to Pudu Raya or Jalan Duta for bus companies. There are loads of them plying all over the country!

Good luck and enjoy Tioman or any of the outer islands (I reckon that's why you are going to Mersing) but the see would be choppy at this time of the year (the North East Monsoon season).

I took Transnasional Express frm KL to Mersing before and highly recommend the bus company - safe & reliable. The last bus will leave from Puduraya @ 11pm and you'll reach Mersing @ 3am. Check out its website for details:

I went from KL to Mersing. My bus arrive like 5am and I slept on the streets.

However, you wil be traveliing the opposite way ending up in KL. Which I reckon would have a better outcome then what I experience.
