| Nürnberg | Questions about Nürnberg Posted: Tue December 12, 2006 08:45 AM UTC
I would be in Nürnberg for about a day. Would like to know what are the more important sights to cover.
1) I intend to visit the castle in the morning. Are there specific times for English tours? Is photography allowed in the castle and on the grounds? 2) To get some feel of the distances, how long is the castle from the train station? 3) Are there any museums relating to WWII with explanations in English? 4) Is there a few roads that should be taken in order not to miss out on the more important sights? Vielen dank im voraus. |

1. i could not find informations concerning english tours for the castle. here is the www.side and contact adress of the castle, they should be able to answer your questions. http://www.schloesser.bayern.de/englisch/palace/ob 2. A walk from the Burg to the Trainstadion takes aprox. one hour. 3. the "dokumentationszentrum nürnberg" has exebitions concerning thier nazi time in germany, but again you have to contact them by e-mail, as there is no info concerning english tours on thier webside http://www.museen.nuernberg.de/dokuzentrum/allgemein.html 4.this sight might be interessting for you: http://www.historische-meile.nuernberg.de/englisch/e_start.htm have a good time in "Nörnberch" christof

1) Definately in the grounds - I had no problems.
2) I'd say half an hour. Definately not a full hour. 3) The Dokuzentrum has some things in English. It is a very interesting area even without language skills. Don't miss the zeppelin field. 4) Definately visit the Dürer House just below the castle and stroll along the walls there. Then it is also very nice to walk along the river with its wooden bridge (see my intro pic).

The Nazi documentation center is very interesting and it is museum that offers English head sets - you can punch in the code of the exhibit and it will give you information.
They also have a Toy museum that is supposed to be very fascinating if that interests you.
