Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the Merkato is open on Coptic/Orthodox Christmas on January 6th/7th? Also, the national museum? Thank you in advance Joey |

Neither Merkato nor the museum is open on tha day.

Are they closed both on the 6th and 7th?

Christmas is on the 6th which is on saturday and the 7th, Merkato is closed on sundays.

Ok, this is very good to know right now because I was going to spend Sat, Sunday and Monday in Addis before heading north by bus to Bahir on the 9th.
Now this opens up another question. If I arrive on the 6th and then on the 7th very early arrive at the bus station to LEAVE Addis and head for Bahir, will the buses be running on Sunday?

Yes, the buses run everyday including sundays and holidays.
