We will be in Winnipeg with a 10 and 14 year old on New Years Eve. Any recommendations?

Do you have access to a car? You could drive around and look at Christmas lights. Later in the evening, taxis are not available on New Years without hours of waiting.

I'm having troubles thinking of anything interesting for that age children. New Years parties seem mostly for adults. When we had kids that age, we either partied at home and watched that silly ball drop in Times Square, NYC on TV, or just went to bed early.

If the weather cooperates (it has been warm for most of this winter so far), there are parks you can wander around in earlier in the day. If I think of anything, I will add it later. Sometimes the newspaper has ideas for days like New Years.

In your other question about restaurants on Christmas day, I know that most restaurants in Winnipeg are closed Christmas day. I assume the same may be true of Montreal.
