I am planning to have my Christmas from 24 Dec to 26 Dec in Windermere. Could you please give me some advice about the winder wald which I am interested in?
I know nothing about how to perpare for it such what to wear, what to bring and what I should pay more attention to during the walk. By the way, can you recommend some places worthy of being visited around Windermere. Thanks a lot.

What sort of walking are you looking for? Are you into mountaineering and want to climb the mountains, or are you more looking for bimbles around lakes etc.

Whatever you intend to do, you will need to pack clothes which you can layer so you can add/remove them as the weather changes (which it will). You will also need a warm hat/scarf/gloves, a warm waterproof jacket and water-resistant walking shoes/boots. There may be some snow, although this is unlikely; it is more likely that there will be rain, with perhaps some frosty mornings/evenings.

Do not be tempted to go up high if you are not experienced (I suspect you are not, or you would not need to ask about clothing etc). The Lake District hills may not look very high, but the weather can be extremely treacherous. Far too many inexperienced walkers have to be rescued by the (volunteer) mountain rescue teams.

This site gives useful information for low-level walking in safety:
