| Bah燰 de los 聲geles | whale watching in december?? Posted: Fri December 8, 2006 08:39 AM UTC
leaving for northern baja next weekend! :)
i see on the posts for bahia de los angeles that you mention seeing both dolphins & whales while kayaking. the different articles i have read so far all mention whale sighting from january to march?? i will not be going farther south -- can anyone recommend where is the best place in northern baja to have a chance to see whales during december?? thanks, marianna |

| Bah燰 de los 聲geles | RE: whale watching in december?? Posted: Fri December 8, 2006 01:59 PM UTC San Diego is a better place to see whales in December, they mostly don't reach Baja until Januaray. That isn't to say that you wouldn't see any in Tijuana, Rosarito or Ensenada, but not as likely. Here is a website that offers whale watching tours in Baja: http://www.bajaexpo.com/whales.htm On the USA side of the border, in San Diego and Chula Vista there are more affordable whale watching day trips in December that might be of interest to you if you don't want the expense of overnight tours. Along the coast line in Baja there are probably many places you could stop and see whales passing by, but I'd say you might have a chance siting at Calafia, just south of Rosarito Beach. However, this is not the easiest way, because not many whales come so close to shore and the odd siting is more unique than constant. Hope this helps, Linda

i think im answering a little late here...but anyway for hom is usefull , the best time to watch whales in baja is in late january and specially february, and the best place to see them is in Guerrero Negro, its a town in the very end of northern baja and the very beguinning of souther baja, its far from the US border but getting there gives you amazing views ... i have been there 2 times and theres really noplace that can give you sutch amazing whale close encounters...
