We would like to start the bus ride from Wurzburg to Rothenburg. Then stop in Rothenburg and spend the night there. The next day we would like to continue from Rotherburg to Fussen. Do we buy tickets for the whole trip in Wurzburg, or just pay once for each section of the trip. For example, do we pay one time for the ride from Wurzbur to Rothenburg, and then pay for a different fare from Rothenburg to Fussen? If so, do we still get 60% discount for each of the bus rides if we have the Eurail SelectPass Saver?

Stopovers are possible.

Normal ticket Würzburg to Füssen is EUR 58,50. With 60% off is EUR 23,40 pp.

I would recommend to use trains. This is faster, you have more flexibility and they are cheaper.
Würzburg - Rothenburg: EUR 10,00 pp; travel time 1:09; hourly connections
Rothenburg - Füssen: buy a Bavaria Ticket (EUR 25,00). Covers all local trains in Bavaria for day. On weekdays only past 9am. Covers also nearly all other local public transport, e.g. the bus from Füssen to Hohenschwangau (for Neuschwanstein Castle) and back.

Thus train is 10,00 + 25,00 / 2 = 22,50 per person (incl bus Füssen - Hohenschwangau).
Romantic Raod Bus is EUR 23,40, Füssen - Hohenschwangau and return is 2,60 or 3,40 pp = EUR 26,00 pp.


Keep in mind that the Romantic Road connects romantic places. A bus trip on this road is not romantic as such. And with the bus you cannot spent just some hours in a place, as the next bus is only next day. With the trains you're more flexible. You can just take one an hour or two later.
