We stayed with Ana Maria and Pepé analinacuba@yahoo.com for 2 nights in Vedado Havana. We were so impressed asked if they had contacts in Santiago and Baracao as we flew to Santiago. They contacted César Omar Bustamante cobustamante@yahoo.es tel (53-22)622466 in Santiago on our behalf. He was waiting @ the airport with sign. Had a driver and drove us to his Casa. We paid the driver 8 CUC no meter. César had his room rented but did provide very good alternate. Lourdes Bas y Lalo Casas Tel. 652757 San Carlos No.436 e/ Reloj y Calvarlo 25 CUC/night. César seems to know all and how to get things done. He found us a very good guide for half day Julio César Acostu Valle speaks very good english and knows his history. Julio loves baseball and the blessed Yankees Tel 53 - 22)624000 cost 15 CUC and a yankees baseball hat. A car and driver will cost another 15 if you want to venture out to the Castillo de San Pedro del Morro, which is a must just for the vista view.

Viazul bus to Baracao takes 4 1/2 hours and is very nice drive along some of the coast and up over the mountains that are quite high and scenic.

The Casa de la Trova near Hotel Casa Granda has live entertainment every night warm up band (very good)main floor from 7 to 9 then feature band 15 members in our visit from 10 -1 am 1 CUC cover charge. If you plan on taking in the upstairs show go up stairs by 9:15 as tour bus will drop off 30 or 40 people and seating choices are drastically reduced. Incidently The Hotel Casa Granda had posted rate 2 weeks ago at front desk 112 CUC for 2 persons. Why pay when you can find a Casa Particular for 25 in easy walking distance?
