Manchester manchester sightsseings - shops

Dear VT,

May you give me some advice about sightseeings and places to visit in Manchester (like in one day or an evening, since I will not stay for long time).

Also, about Trafford Centre, can I find there shops of laptops? (shall I have a wide range of choice between different shops or are there only few?)

One more question, in January, do the shops offer discounts? and where can I get the best deals for clothes for example?

Thank you very much for your advice & help,
Warm regards,
sinsim

sinsim manchester is now a great city to visit with many different cafes bars and restaurants, the city centre is full of shops and all within easy walking distance.
the trafford centre is a 20 minute bus ride outside the city, but it is just a huge shopping center ,ok if its raining though, but mostt of the shops you find in the trafford center are in the city center too.manchester is a walking city with no particular special places to visit ,its all great, have a great time.

If you're are in luck the Big Wheel will still be in manchester - OK it's not quite the London Eye, but its still worth doing, you get a great arielview of the city centre, from the warmth and comfort of an enclosed cabin - it's based outside the "printworks" at "The Triangle" - a great area for shopping too.

Also The new Hilton hotel has a bar on the 23rd floor, which is worth a visit, you'll get another fantstic view of the surrounding area (drinks are expensive though!).
If you're an art lover check out one of the galleries. The Manchester art gallery on Mosely Street is my favourite, I'm always amazed at the content and scale of some of work there - it's easy to forget your in manchester. unlike some of the bigger galleries I have visited, it won't take up all you day and you'll still see some brilliant pieces.
The Trafford Centre is huge. You'll find all the shops you need there. The January Sales will be on so it will be very busy. There are shops such as Dixon's where you will be able to buy a laptop -no problems. At the entrances into the mall there are maps of where to find what you are looking for, shops are indexed by name and by product type so it should be eas to find what you need.
Good luck and enjoy our Beautiful City
