He had a daughter named Elsa.
Lieven Gevaert did a lot for the Flemish people that were supressed by the francophones. He gave them Flemish schools to study.
His daughter Elsa founded the Lieven Gevaert foundation to be able to continue his efforts.

well no education in the own language, no legislation, no culture, and inequality in threatment, judgmental system was not in Dutch...
there is a thin line between oppressed and suppressed :) but I forgot about the existance of that first word :)
Maybe it is better in use here.

Indeed, "suppressed" is adhoc in this case. Most important is, however, to state that they didn't succeed, isn't it ?
