Follow the Trans-Canada Hwy

In winter there can be a lot of snow/wind/ice. Winter driving in Canada - be prepared to hole up in a motel during a snowstorm.

Try to miss hitting other vehicles ;o) Hit The Forks or the Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg, the RCMP school and the museum downtown in Regina, the Glenbow museum and the malls (less tax) in Calgary.

There are a couple of long stretches with monotonous scenery - the Shield stretch from Sault Ste Marie to Thunder Bay and the prairie stretch from mid-Manitoba to Alberta.

as mentioned, the transcanada
make sure your car is well stocked for winter conditions. the highways in alberta have been in very bad driving conditions lately. the towing companies are recommending that if your car breaks down to just leave it and get ride as they are backed up by 12-24 hours.
have candles, very warm boots, gloves, hats, blankets, snacks and water.
