Sergio

Oh Francesco, I was reading this forum looking for advice, and thought I'd found something relevant. Unfortunately, my Italian is very, very basic and so I can't follow very much of your answer !
We are planning a week in Perugia in September, as a base for visiting Orvieto and Assisi as well, and I'm just starting to look for a hotel with parking. The first couple I looked at didn't have parking, so can you tell me what is the parking like in the historic centre ?

Hi Andrew... Nice to mett you again
Actually, reading my old post made me very sad. I recognized in the news the St Antonio parking wich i wrote about. Just a few meters from it there's the house of the unlucky Meredith Kercher. I guess there no need to tell you about her. Anyway, you cannot park in the citycenter, because it is the top of an high hill, but there are several big parkings all around. One, very convenient, is exactly Sant'Antonio http://www.sipaonline.it/canale.asp?id=22 Very close to the Etruscan arch (north side of town), that leads starigth to the catedral and the famous square. Parcheggio Europa http://www.sipaonline.it/canale.asp?id=22 is bigger but not as close to the center: but well connected with automatic stairs to the center. Same for parking of Piazza Partigiani http://www.sipaonline.it/canale.asp?id=18 All of the above claim to have a discounted daily touristic fare, marked with an asterisc (*). The note tell that that fare has to be asked in advance, but don't tell how. Damn. Probably on the arrival? Let me know if you need further help with that italian site. Ciao Francesco

Thank you very much, Francesco. I am thinking about choosing a hotel just outside the centre - within reasonable walking distance. I thought that parking would be difficult for the central hotels, and this confirms it. I've bookmarked both the websites, and will read them both in more detail later.
