KLIA to KLCC Posted: Tue July 22, 2003 09:12 AM UTC
I am travelling to KL in August, can anyone guide me how to reach from KLIA to near KLCC. I hear the taxis are expensive and it is an Hours drive. I intend to reach KLIA at around Mid night.

There is an express rail from KLIA to Sentral, its call the KLIA Express. It will cost you RM35 one way and then you can consider city cab coz you will arrive at mid night. If you arrive earlier say before mid-night you can opt to travel from KLIA using the KLIA Express then change to our our light rail transit, its much more convenient as the Putra transit system actually has a station at KLCC.

It might be hard to get a cheap taxi around midnight, but i managed to share one for RM50 each. At midnight it should take about 50 minutes to get there.
If you're able to get one for about that price i would definately consider taking a taxi since it brings you straight to the place you need to be.
KLIA express is cheaper (if you're traveling alone!) and faster to KL, but you'd need to take another cab to your hotel, so in the end you might not even be faster.

NEVER EVER consider to share cabs or even take private taxis from the airport.
There are incidencesof mugging, rape etc. The airport has signage to warn people of that but there must be demand for such services to call for supply!
Please for safety sake take the coupon system taxis. It may cost double but really it is better to be safe than sorry. Check out what time you actually arrive so that you can possibly catch the KLIA express instead and from there perhaps change to the LRT to catch a train to KLCC...otherwise get off and buy a coupon for the taxi connection. there is a surcharge from midnight to 6am

Maybe you will want to know that the road from KLIA to central KL is dark without lights and you pass through palm oil plantations. My friend was really worried when he travelled from the central to KLIA by taxi cos of the dark routes... It just make him nervous in an unfamiliar place. I have not travelled from KLIA to central KL, but that's the feedback that I have got from friends who fly to KL for the weekend. KLIA is still new, so there's not much development around the airport yet and it is about an hour's drive from the city.
Safe travels..
Lina

I would also recommend the KLIAA Express. I have taken it and it is very easy to use and safe. I think it closes around 12:30 or 1am. The trip to KL will take about 30 minutes.
If it is shut down when you arrive, then you will have to take a taxi.

I agree 100%with Audrey118! Never share taxis - buy prepaid taxi coupons at the taxi counter(Airport Limo) just before stepping out of the arrival hall. Remember to ask for Budget taxis and not Limos as it will be more expensive! I think one way ffrom KLIA to near KLCC should be less than RM100 one way! You have no other choice if you are arriving past midnight as the train service is shut down!

There is nothing wrong with takning a normal taxi. Just make sure you agree on the price. During the day time 60-70 is possible.
I wouldn't have shared the taxi if it wasn't 1:30 AM and didn't feel like paing 130 for the trip.
There was this buiseness man from my same flight who had the same problem. I don't see the problem.
