Perito Moreno Travelling with a baby.
Posted: Fri November 24, 2006 08:17 PM UTC
I'm visiting Buenos Aires for a wedding and will be there a couple of weeks. I am travelling with my wife and a 1 year old baby and looking for a side trip. We have travelled extensively, but never with a child.

Would Perito Moreno be a side trip that I could do with a young child?

I plan to fly from Buenos Aires and am mostly concerned about avoiding extensive bus or truck rides with the little guy. I'm travelling with a car seat in tow, but assume that outside of the major cities I won't be able to use it?! If the drive isn't too long, a cab is possible an option?!

Any insight into this area would help.

Thanks,
Todd.

Perito Moreno is about 80 km's from El Calafate and to return from the glacier to town you would have to make an appointment with a taxi driver to pick you up again (or he should wait during your visit).
Guided tours are with mini buses !!

Tod,
How do you plan to get to El Calafati? Once there follow the above advice, but unless things have changed (1995) you will have to fly somewhere near and bus the El C.

Things have changed: El Calafate has an airport, 18 km's from the town.
You can take a remise/taxi to town.
