When leaving New Zealand by airplane, all passengers have to fill in a New Zealand Passenger Departure Card.
All international passengers also have to pay a departure fee of NZD 25,- (January 2006), except children under 12 years. You have to show these documents at the customs counters of the airport. On the website: http://www.auckland-airport.co.nz/PaxInfo/depart_proced.php You can read all the departures procedures, when leaving from Auckland International Airport. (see my New Zealand page) happy travels Jaap

Just a tip for Christchurch Airport. After you check in and pay the dreaded departure tax, take a walk over to the Antartic Centre. There are painted lines on the footpath to show the way. It is very interesting and a good way to spend a couple of hours instead of sitting in a departure lounge.
