We are renting a condo in Negril for two weeks in March and were wondering about the grocery shopping. What kid of supermarkets do they have? Can we get most things that are available in North America. Which stores do you suggest that we shop in? Thanks for your input

There are three shopping centers in town. On Norman Manley Blvd. (the beach road) - the newest center to open is Times Square. The complex is comprised of duty-free specialty stores. At the roundabout in the center of town, one can find the ValueMaster grocery store, fruit stalls, the Cable & Wireless Jamaica communications center where phone cards may be purchased, and other small shops. In the Hi-Lo Shopping center (on the road towards the cliffs, one will find an arcade with more gift shops, a large air-conditioned grocery store, outdoor eateries, a travel agent, two banks, and a video checkout center. Check at negriljamacia.com Are you going for spring break? It will be crowded but fun.

The Value Master at the round a bout is ok, but there are some hustlers in the parking lot always asking me to change money. I only go there if the HiLo is out is something, which is rare. Hi Lo has everything. They are in the Sunshine Village just past the round a bout, heading up West End Rd. For fresh fish you have to go to the fish market. Also, fruits and veggies are cheaper at local stands. Still, for one stop stopping--HiLo. Have fun!
