Have a friend whos about to go on one of those cruises around the islands from Oz, and hes a keen body board surfer. Is there any beaches with surf that he might be able to get to when he arrives in vanuatu for the day?

It depends which beaches that the cruises are going to... I have been on a P&O Cruise and it went 2 Vanuatu but I dont recall any beaches that had waves as such.. they are more relaxing beaches... very nice ones... so I would suggest you find out the names of the actual ports etc...hope this helps...

Port Vila is the port - so its a matter of what beaches would be accessible to day trippers and what ( if any) may have surf?

go and see the waterfalls.. they are amazing! - you even get to swin in them!

As for surf beaches... you may have to google that.. not sure... sorry

I just got back from a week in Port Vila with two mates, and had an awesome time. Unfortunately, there's very little available surf (unless your friend catches the aftermath of a cyclone) but there is a heap of great adventure type day activities to get into if thats the sort of thing he is up for. if he gets in touch with EDGE Adventures (+678)53153 or check out www.edgevanuatu.com my friends and I did the Jungle Paintball, and the Cascade Capers abseil down a 50m waterfall - both absolutely awesome, and the two guys that own the company - Troy and Zeak - are Aussie expats and both absolute champs, so even if your mate gets in touch with them to ask for a bit of local insight, they can suggest the best places for nightlife etc.
