| Chiang Rai | Help! Transfer from Chiang Rai City to Chiang Rai Airport Posted: Mon November 20, 2006 09:15 AM UTC
Hi everyone
I tried searching everywhere for information on getting transportation to the Chiang Rai Airport but couldn't find any. My group of 7 will be taking a flight to BKK next month at 0820 hrs, meaning we got to be at the airport at about 0700AM perhaps. Can anyone tell me whether it'll be easy to flag a taxi off the street to take us to the airport, or do we have to arrange in advance? I also couldn't find many guesthouses located in Chiang Rai near the night market. Can anyone put me in the right direction? Thanks, Rey |

Hmm, I've spent a little time in Chiang Rai over several visits and know that you won't have a problem getting a tuk tuk but I'm fairly certain taxis are also available too. The airport is a bit north of town. I prefer to stay a little bit away from the congested night market area and I can recommend a guesthouse called Kay's Internet Guesthouse. There are no private bathrooms; ie. they're shared but are kept very clean and maintained. The place is run by an older Thai woman and her American husband. Excellent prices too. It's about a ten minute walk to the Night Market which is great for dinner since they also have regular Thai dance or music performances.

Chiang Rai is not a big place so not tons of taxis around .You would have to arrange a cab to take you to the airport this is not difficult to do. WE stayed at the Rimkok . Booked it through Asiarooms...a little out of town though. It was $33.00 a night.
