| Zermatt | Getting to Zermatt Posted: Sun November 19, 2006 04:13 PM UTC
Greetings everyone! I'm planning to travel to Zermatt this January and need some help. This is going to be my first time in Europe.
Best/cheapest way to get to Zermatt from Geneva (I'm originating from Naples Italy and planning to fly to Geneva. Any better suggestions?) Cheap accomodations and hostels in the area Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Steve drstevechan@gmail.com |

From Geneva Airport, your best bet is probably to take the train, since Zermatt is car-free. Hourly trains leave directly from Geneva Airport in the direction of Brig. Change in Visp for the private BVZ Train to Zermatt. Check out www.sbb.ch for schedule details.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip! Mark

Are you travelling with someone else? Aren't u spending few days in switzerland? Then, swiss pass will be the best option.we went in christmas vacation. It is relly money saving. But two things to keep in mind. Buy it(from any railway stn)if travelling as a group of two to four/more. It includes everythying(excluding fetured rides:such as jungfraubahn, golden pass or cablecar. Butwhile buying tickets for jungfrubahn you will get 50% discount for the swiss pass )secondly, while buying swiss passs always keep the passport with you. The pass is not for the swiss residents. so you may have to show it to prove your identity. From Geneva take train for brig.some of them stops at visp(just the previous stn.)From Brig change for smaller trains going to zermatt. The stn is just outsuide the main Brig stn.During return journey all trains stop at visp and you have to change there for Geneva.sbb.ch is great.U can get every esstential details of your journey from their timetable. In case of any confusion information centres help a lot.So always try for that on your way.
Have a great holiday.
