I thought as a nice suprice for our summer holidays this year i would suprise him by booking a week in amsterdam and then a week in holland somewhere lovely by the beach. I would like to book a nice not to busy village if possible or open to any suggestion, just some where to get a way from it all, oh and to keep him happy somewhere with a coffee shop, please help as i have been on the internet for 4 hours and cannot find anythin thank so much in advance

To start, in the summer holidays it will be more or less busy in all the villages along the Noordzee beach.
I would recommend:
- Bergen aan Zee/Egmond aan Zee; you could even consider staying in a village not exactly on the beach, which might be not as busy as right on the beach
(consider villages like Bergen, Schoorl or Egmond)
- the so called 'Waddeneiland' Texel; first by train to Den Helder and then by ferry to Texel.
(www.texel.nl or www.texel.net)

happy travels
Jaap

There are many nice cities at the sea/beach.

Bergen aan Zee, Noordwijk aan zee, Zandvoort, Bloemendaal aan Zee, Scheveningen etc.

Zandvoort is a popular beachcity for Amsterdam locals.
During summertime there are lots of parties at Bloemendaal aan Zee (also very popular for Amsterdam locals).

Scheveningen is very nice because its the biggest one and the most lively one with a huge boulevard and lots of things to do. And its next to The Hague.

If you like a busy lively beachtown go to Scheveningen, if you want a quiter one choose one of the smaller ones.

My favorite beach town in Europe is Zandvoort. It is busy but there are some quiet neighborhoods away from the sand. The beach is several miles long. The clothing optional section is about a mile south of town. I recommend that you rent bicycles and ride south through the dunes to get away from it all. There are many hotels, big and small, plus "Zimmer Frei" which are rooms in private homes at a very good price. The nightlife is active and there is a casino. If the weather fails to cooperate for a day take the train over to Haarlem, about which you can find plenty of information on this site and others. I love Haarlem and used to live there.

How about the province of Zeeland in the south west of The Netherlands?? We here have the most hours of sunshine! (see my The Netherlands page travelogue MY PROVINCE)
I myself live on the island of Walcheren and we have many little villages and the most lovely beaches!
Try Domburg, Zoutelande, Westkapelle, Oostkapelle, Vrouwenpolder........
Let me know if you want to know more.....

elisabeth living in the historical town of Middelburg, the capital of the province (see my The Netherlands pages..:-))
