My wife and 2 kids will be spending Thanksgiving week in San Antonio by the riverwalk. Do we need to rent a car. Is the area teenage friendly? How safe it is at nigth. Is a week to long?

1. "Do we need to rent a car." You don't for the riverwalk or the immediate downtown area, but you're staying for a week? You'll want a car for sure to go visit other things (like the mission tour and the Mercado).

2. "Is the area teenage friendly?" Well, there are stretches of bars and restaurants and shops along the riverwalk; I suppose this would be interesting for a while, but only for a while. The Alamo is in walking distance, as I recall (but I drove there so my memory's a bit hazy).

3. "How safe it is at nigth" In the riverwalk area itself where all the people are, it's safe enough. I don't know about dark, empty downtown streets nearby.

4. "Is a week to long?" Yes, unless you have plans to take the car and do other stuff, as I noted above.

Oh, I guess there is a Sea World in SA (isn't there?) and other similar parks. But I vaguely remember these being on the edge of town, not in the center.

I feel much more comfortable when i have a car, more independent. I haven't been in San Atonio yet, but i always use www.travel-park.com for planning my trips, including car rental services. i can say only positive things bout them, i never had prolems with the cars i rented. It's an extra stress to wait for a taxi, to wonder how much will you pay for it. .
