Good Morning, We would like to take the freight train in November of next year from Salta to San Antonio de los Cobres.
Can we book our seats before we arrive in Salta?
If so how do we go about booking on the freight train?
If we can't book in advance where do we go to buy the ticket?
Do we have to get to the station days before the train leaves to ensure our seats or can we buy the tickets on the Wednesday that the train leaves?

There is not any train which takes passangers on that route.

I cant trnslate that of "freight train", but if you are talking about the Tren de las Nubes", the touristic train joining Salta and San Antonio de los Cobres, as I understand it is not operative before this summer. And if this is the train, you should get your tickets well in advance. I dont know if they have an internet place where to make the booking, because I am in BA and not aware of this. But in other case, you should book through a Tour Office.

A freight train is a cargo train. It seems it will be a long time before the Train to the Clouds runs again.

Thank you for your help, I have now read that there is a freight train that has a passenger carriage attached that travels from Salta to Socompa.
Is it possible to travel on this train?
Once at Socompa how long will the train be there before retuning to Salta?
Is there any other way of returning to Salta?

I cant help you on that, but you could ask some of the VT in Salta, send them e-mails.
