Hi there, I am intending to visit Jiuzhaigou in April sometime in the 1st week of April - I know that there is little rain at that time of the year but are the lakes all still frozen and is there still snow lying around? I was thinking of visiting during summer where it is all green in late august but I heard it is very rainy? Any suggestions? Lastly, I got quotes for flights to and fro chengdu and jiuzhaigou and it comes up to 2100RMB per person for a return flight even on elong.net - is that reasonable? thanks!

1.usually not because the average temp. in april is 16.5 c.
2.it rains a lot during summer rather than other seasons but more chances of having sunshine even than october,when the best month to visit.
3. the air fare between chengdu and jiuzhaigou almost doubled during these years, but you may get discouted fare up to 40%-60% off except the 2 national long holidays and october.

The best time to visit Jiuzhaigou is actually in mid-October for the dazzling autumn colours.
It's still too early to be checking the discounted flight prices, check about 1 month in advance as that's when the discounted flight prices will be confirmed.

Thanks for all your advice - so you mean Jiuzhaigou is not very good for visit in April at all? I am deciding whether to visit Sichuan province or Yunan province in April as I do not have enough time to do both and in August again I have some time? So can you suggest is it better to do Sichuan in April and Yunnan in mid August or Yunnan in April and Sichuan in mid-August? Many thanks!

Nono, don't get me wrong. Jiuzhaigou is good at all times (different scenery for different seasons) but the most recommended would be what I said above.
Sorry, no idea if one would be better over the other in April and August.
