| St. Thomas | St Thomas Liquor Posted: Fri November 17, 2006 08:44 PM UTC
The last time I was in St Thomas I brought liquor back in those neat cardboard six-packs and was able to take them on the airplane as carry on luggage. With the new restrictions on carrying on liquids, how can I bring back my liquor purchase. Do the liquor stores on St Thomas provide appropriate cartons that can be used as checked baggage or do they have some other method. It seems the liquor stores must have some method because if the tourists can't take liquor purchases on airplanes then the liquor stores will be out of business.

Hi there, I work for TSA in the US. You are only allowed toiletries in 3oz or less containers in a 1 quart size ziploc baggie per passenger. Addl. liguids allowed that are declared to TSA at the front of the checkpoint are: Juice (in a reasonable quantity) and milk for infants, small children, or diabetics, liquid, cream/oitments medications. The website is www.TSA.gov. Your liquor will have to go in checked baggage. Some liquor like Absolut with high alcohol content is prohibited. I hope this helps you. Have a great time in St. Thomas!! Is this island in the British Virgin Islands? I'm wanting to go to Bora Bora sometime. Let me know how your trip went. Take Care, Steph in Panama City. Email steph6150@vtmail.com

Thank you for your help. I will be sure to bring an extra bag along. I am pretty sure that St Thomas is a U.S. owned Island. St. Thomas is very commercial, to me any ways. It seems the further south I go in the carribean the nicer the islands get! By the way, go to Bora Bora, my best friend just got back from her honeymoon there, and said it is truly PARADISE!! Be safe, and always smile!

We have often checked our liquor boxes on flights to the states...we do usually wrap the bottles with some newspaper and then put them back in the 6 pack box for added protection though. And St. Thomas is definitely a US island...the British Virgin Islands are about 45 minutes away by ferry.
