Hello all ,

I came recently to jeddah for work. I've been here for a month and every thing regarding work , accomidation and transport is settled. but still there is one problem : I don't know anyone here ! I used to hang out with alot of people from different countries back in Jordan to play pool , have a drink or go dance some where, talk about politics and go to film scrrenings and art galas , but I'm beginning to think that non of this exists here ! Am I right ? please don't tell me so !

Another thing : is it impossible to meet new girls in Jeddah ?? because this whole all-male community things is just not working for me. Bear in mind that I am 24 years old which prevents me from do any so-called "Family Activity".

Saudi in terms of socal life is what you make of it. but it will never be the US or even jordan... it might take time but eventualy you will fall in with a group that is invoved in gatherings and parties (where single women do exisit)... you missed some interesting halloween parties a few weeks ago. but it takes time to "be accepted" and invited... oh there are also big parties at some of the compounds that you can buy tickets to... I would recomend contacting VTer Kado and try to get invoved in the hash (a regular mixed expat run/walk activity in the desert). other than that, just try to be friendly. go to any western consulate events, take some launguage classes, join a gym or hang out on the compound gym or courts if you live on a compound... also try to meet other single young people... even "guys" as they will tend to have been here for a while are already in the social circle. good luck

Hey Marimar! happy eid and new year! you still in Egypt? yeah, I get turkish messages every once and a while. sadly I can only understand a few words so I can't figure out what the guy was asking... I do know he was polite as he said hi in the begining and thank you in the end... ha ha! also was asking for my assistance with something... not sure what... can't even get it translated online as it was writen in regular english letters not turkish letters! ha ha! well maybe he will write bak in english... hope you are well. 1, 2, 3, for little kids... but for us older kids its soposed to hurt like hell and take a few days to get better and out of bed... they are actualy going to keep me in the hospital for a day and a half to make sure I am ok... I am NOT looking forward to it! prayers are requested! ha ha!

Sorry when I saw jeddahturk nıck name I thought you are Turk ( turkısh ) and therefore I wrote ıt ın Turkısh...:))

Infact I have a job opportunıty ın Jeddah and I need to get some help.. Can you help me ? I also wrote to the forum and followıng the forum.. It helps too much...

Company offered me usd 5350 per month net net salary ıncl accom and transportatıon..Is ıt good ? or on average salary ?? It ıs Operation Manager posıtıon ın Multınatıonal Logıstıcs company. I can not make any compare as I do not know salary scala ın Arabıa...

- As far as I wrote ıt fm forum the compaunds are around usd 800 per month ? Is ıt worth ıt to stay and spend such money or ıs ıt just spendıng more money to accomodatıon for just relaxıng sometımes after work.. I do not thınk that I wıll be too much tıme after work :))

- Secondly what ıs the car rent fee ın Jeddah ? Can you gıve me some ıdea about monthly car rental charges

- What would be my personal expenses for lıvıng ? Is ıt too expensıve cıty or usd 800 per month ıs enough for lıvıng ın good aswell ? ( exl accom I meant )..

- As far as I know there ıs not too much thıng to do there ? Is ıt really strıck muslım cıty ? Can we meet wıth gırls/guys or get ınto some groups and enjoy together ?

- I am from Turkey and I am also muslım. Company saıd to me ıt could be take around 1 month to get vısa and workıng permıt for me ? But they saıd sometımes ıt ıs dıffıcult to get ıt.. My company is very big and multinational company ın Logıstıcs sector. Would ıt be help to get vısa and work permıt easıly ? Just need yr opınıon how dıffuclt would ıt be to get work permıt for company ?

I can guess how many tımes you get same questıons fm foreıgners but I wıll appreciate in advance to take yr tıme and reply :))

well its true, jeddah has its hidden beauties..
dont know that u have been to sch place in jeddah like Durrat Al Arus and Nakheel beach , but they are great sourse of chillin and havin fun in boring life...
