| York | travel to stansted airport early in the morning Posted: Wed November 15, 2006 04:35 PM UTC
does anyone know how I can get to the stansted airport from york
to catch a flight at 6.50 am? I would rather not take a B&B or sleep at the airport. I do not have a car so I have to rely on public transport. Many thanks, Anna |

There are trains (www.nationalrail.co.uk) and coaches (www.nationalexpress.com). The former are faster, but more expensive than the latter. If you have a flight at 6.50 am you will need to check in about 4.50am. I don't think you will have any choice but to spend some time in the airport, especially if you take the train) but Stansted is bearable enough place for a short while.

I live a little south of york and I frequently use stansted, my sisterlives close by, its a three hour drive down the A1, and you need to allow more, so you would have to leave at midnight if you were driving. you might check out a coach and try to sleep on that?

When we moved from York to Sweden by ferry from Harwich there was no alternative other than staying in Harwich over night to catch the ferry. I'd pick B&B or possibly sleep on a night bus as that takes quite some time to meander down towards London.
