I stayed at the Hotel Tritone this summer; but I considered staying at the Stellamare. The beach made the decision for me; my personal preference is that the west beach is cleaner/nicer than the east beach.

Thanks for the reply. What was the Tritone like? Of particular interest to us is food quality - we want good Itlaian food, quietness of rooms, timing of evening meal, cleanliness and good friendly service. Thanks very much for the beach tip, I do not know much about the area.

The Tritone was very nice; average 2/3 star Italian hotel. We were on the beach side of the building & had a small balcony, it was very quiet. The hotel is very clean & the staff most helpful and friendly. In fact, I showed up with my 100 lb Yellow Lab (he had just had small tumor removed from his foot & I didn't want to leave him alone). They were hesitant to let me have the room at first, but eventually they flocked around him everytime we came and went. I only had breakfast at the hotel, again good, simple typical -- although since many Germans come to this area and hotel, there was a larger selection of meats and cheeses than normal. It's not that I avoided eating dinner at the hotel, it's just that there's lot's of good restaurants in the town and we always ended up at one of those. The beach across from the hotel belongs to the hotel and your umbrella & chair are complimentary -- although they have a limited number -- get one early. The hotel parking area is very small (but at least they have one) and getting in and out was quite a task some days.
